It was rather heartbreaking to tear out the pantry. The first week we lived here we bought a new water heater and had the plumber (!) install it in the garage rather than in the little closet. We then added a light, some sheet-rock, and some selves. Voila a pantry! Well that was 4 years ago and we've learned alot since then. In order to make the kitchen bigger, the pantry had to go. While it was sorta sad to see our first project gone, it was also a little embarrassing. Sloppy joint taping, uneven shelves, SCARY wiring. The wall that was the backsplash for the range has been mostly removed at this point, as has the sheet-rock on this side of our bar. The lower cabinet is out in the backyard.
