The Disney folks had a crowd control problem even before the recent Light Tragic debacle. In October of 1996, the Main Street Electrical Parade celebrated it's closing season, and you couldn't walk by a room with a TV without seeing an ad for the damned thing. For the first time in years, the park had to close it's gates because it was filled to capacity. This happened on several Saturday's in a row, including the weekend we were there. On Sunday the crowds were not as bad, but way worse than I like. It was so crowded that they had to open up some alternative pathways in order to distribute the masses. One of those was the backstage area behind Storybookland. You could walk from the big gates near Videopolis all the way to the big gates near the restrooms on Big Thunder Trail. We didn't want to go Frontierland, but we saw the gates open and couldn't resist. This is one of 2 photos we took backstage. This is where they park the Storybookland Boats when they are "tired". Sidenote: The CMs don't call it Never-Neverland anymore since they put in a waterfall and King Triton's Castle... oh well.
