WHEN: October 10th, 11th & 12th 1987 In October 1987 I organized the first big "group" trip to Disneyland. Up until then it had been just Pat-Jeopardy-Boy & I or whoever met us down there. This trip was going to involve a caravan down I5, as well as getting motel rooms for everyone. Kel and I were not yet dating, and I lived with Tweek in the apartment he still has in Moraga. Steve & Ed (they're brothers, REALLY!) were our next-door neighbors. Kel arranged for Adri to fly down on her own for a day, tho she didn't make it into any of the pictures that I've scanned (so far). Kel also got caught in horrid LA traffic picking her up! We called it her birthday present... 10th birthday! This coincided nicely with the 10th anniversary of Star Wars which was being touted heavily with the opening earlier in the year of Star Tours. We all drove down in our various unreliable vehicles at midnight, me Mike Maser and Kel, in my Champ, and Ed, Steve & Tweek in Ed's VW Bug. Some guy in a caddy couldn't believe the speed we got that VW to :) We made it down to Denny's across from the park in a record 5 hours and 45 minutes! Then we robust types had breakfast burritos and grossed out Kel. The park was "celebrating" State Fair Days. This was kinda lame cuz it really distracted from the permanent charms of the Magic Kingdom. Ferris-wheels, ring-toss booths, farm animals... yuk. The turkey legs and corn dogs were good tho. I brought my Dad's ancient VHS camcorder so I personally didn't take any snapshots, but Kel & Mike did, so I've got a couple I can scan eventually. For now I only have 2 stills, one of them was taken in the Kodak shop, us all dressed up in 1800's garb. The others are video grabs from a not very good tape. Pat-Jeopardy-Boy was in England so he couldn't make it nyah nyah. :)
