Oooooo there's a 5 Photo Slideshow!

WHO:

WHEN: January 2 - 5, 1992

Whew another big group this time. We all gathered on New Year's Eve, Yvonne & Myles stayed overnight. Then we spent New Year's Day driving down I5 in Yvonne's parent's huge van. Woody was down with his family in San Diego so he met us there. Pat-Jeopardy-Boy, Melissa & Amanda rode in Pat's car.

Highlights of the trip include, seeing the Rivers Of America drained for Fantasmic construction, fighting college football fans in lines, and the race on the last day to beat a snow storm to the grapevine. We won and we lost. We sped past where they were about to close off the freeway, but hit a blizzard halfway up the mountain. We slipped and slid in the van, all the while watching a precariously balanced dixie cup full of Myles Urine. We'd been on the road about a half hour when he complained he had to pee, AGAIN. Yvonne, from the front seat, jokingly told him to use a dixie cup.. Much to our horror, he did! After we got through the grapevine we stopped at a Chevron station to catch our breath. Kel left her purse in the bathroom...her ordeal with Mario Andretti in the snowstorm had shaken her up a bit. Luckily, after much haggling over the phone, we were finally able to get her purse back COD. This was Aran's first trip to Disneyland and unfortunately, he caught a really bad cold, and popped some codeine, so the trip was kinda fuzzy for him. We dragged him down again in December. We also got to meet one of our old WWIV Disney sub friends, Steve "Surge!" Soria. Kel and I had hoped we'd get a backstage tour, but all we got to see is the employee store... we bought a couple of buttons. Then Steve thought we'd like to see one of the new "Mickey's Kitchen" fast food restaurants. It was in Montclair, which unbeknownst to us, is about an hours drive away from the park. The heavy rain made it much slower, and Steve trying a shortcut delayed us even more. What a waste of prime park time! The restaurant was lame and they've since closed them. We were cold, wet and pissed that we'd wasted much of our day by the time we got back to the park, two hours after we'd told the group we'd be there. They handed me a "Today at Disneyland" signed by none other than Robert Klein, whom they said they met while we were gone. That really made me mad about the side-trip.... it wasn't til years later that they all admitted that a CM had signed the brochure, they'd only seen Robert Klein at a distance.. Dorks.
