After spending some quality time in Vancouver (at a nearby pub) Murray and I headed back to the terminal where we found that they were finally boarding us. We then spent about an hour of UN-quality time in line to check in. This was the less annoying line of the 2 we ended up standing in on this trip. The line for the shuttle back to the airport was way worse cuz we had to listen to a bunch of whiney mid-westerners complain and moan...The combination of excitement and 3 pints in us made the line move pretty fast.
On our QE2 trip pages I mention how funny it was looking at hundreds of pictures of the Captain greeting people and looking like a mannequin.. welp this replicant was just as funny but much more pleasing to the eye. :)
Inevitably I compared my experience with that of the QE2 crossing Kel and I took (I'm sure my buds on the ship got sick of hearing about it real quick). Murray had never been on a cruise so I had been telling him a bunch of stuff about how we'd board while we sat in the pub. When Kel and I boarded the QE2, a steward (one of the wine stewards actually) guided us to our cabin and showed us how everything worked. On the Volendam we didn't get that service... not surprising as our cabin happened was about 6 doors down from the gangway :)
After boarding I dropped off my stuff and set out to explore the ship.
