We lived with that remodel job for several years and everything worked pretty well. We were never happy with the other side of the bathroom however. Ugly cabinet, worn out sink, yucky fixtures. It was on "The List" of future projects.
Then, just to prove that "Len don't fix plumbing, Len break plumbing" I found myself with an hour to kill before going to a party one Saturday. The sink's drain had been slowly but surely clogging, and it was now at the point where turning on the faucet for 3 seconds caused a pool in the sink that took a minute to drain. During the week I had tried the checmical method of clearing drains... professional strength Liquid Plumber... Has that stuff EVER worked for any of you out their in webland? No idea why I keep buying it. Anyway I crawled under the sink and undid the trap... which promptly crumbled to dust in my hands, taking with it the connector to the pipe in the wall. Uh oh. I tried to extract the connector pipe and was successful... at breaking it off at the main down-pipe to the waste pipe under the house.
Fun party.
The next day we decided to move up our plans to remodel the other side of the bathroom. We tore out the ugly cabinet and sink, removed the butt-ugly medicine cabinet, removed about half the wall, then re-ran the waste pipe (Oy finding the cast-iron goop was a bitch.. some sort of hemp stuff), upgraded the wiring while the wall was open, bought a new pedestal sink, put the wall back, and voila. We crossed THAT project off our list. While I only used 1 sentance to describe it, it actually took 3 weeks to complete (mostly weekend work). I have yet to scan any of the in-progress shots, but our new camera was screaming to be used so here ya go. This shot and the next one are from Novemeber 2000 (the remodel was done last winter).
