When we moved in we noticed that the tile in the tub/shower kinda moved a bit when ya touched it. There was also a helluva mildew patch on the wall in Adri's room that backed up against it. Welp when the destruction began we were surprised to find that we wouldn't have to use our chisels and sledge hammer to remove the old tile. We just pried one off, and 80% of the rest of them just tumbled into the tub, all on their own! This was NOT the original tile. Sometime in the distant past, a homeowner took it upon himself to add a shower head, and retiled the enclosure. An amateur (so were we but we knew how to read and had some common sense). They put a sheet of 1/4 inch MASONITE up as a backboard for the tile! No wonder it moved! We had to rip out everything from tub to ceiling in order to fix it. We put in new greenboard, then cement backer-board where we planned on tiling. Sucker is mucho waterproof NOW.
