Spring is in the air today, April 7th 2002 and unlike last year, we have set aside a weekend to clean and re-treat the deck. Last year we sorta had an earlier than usual BBQ to celebrate the demise of BSDi, so the furniture all came out in April rather than for Mother's Day. So the deck didn't get any TLC at all!

This year the weather has cooperated, and we made no plans. Yesterday we rented a 2500 PSI Pressure washer and forcibly removed the 2 years of dirt that had accumulated, as well as digging some really keen gouges in the wood. Those things a so cool! (BTW is was 50 bux for about 3 hours).

We let it dry overnight, then, after finishing the NY Times crossword, we got to work. We use this stuff called "Preserva-Wood" and works fab. Applied with a roller where possible, and a brush where not. Took us about an hour to do the whole thing, plus the short posts, and new this year, the 2 front tall posts.

The next 2 pics are just alternate views, taken about 2 hours after application. It's still wet.

Now if only we can keep our friends from tapping their cigarettes on it, maybe it'll last a year (you know who you are!).
