There were a bunch of "stock" photos available for purchase at the Photo Shop and this was one of them. It was taken in 1998 during a bit of "rough" weather. I bought it after being informed by the ship's navigator that the storm WE went through was the worst they've hit in 2 years :). This is also the view you get on the Virtual-Porthole Channel on our cabin TV. Whenever we wanted to check the weather, we'd pop ch. 9 on and take a look. We got to see first hand a couple of waves like this, except it was also raining, and the waves would splash the camera lens. Unfortunately the most impressive waves occurred either overnight (when they had to slow down to 10 knots) or while we were having coffee in the Pavilion. A 40 footer hit us at that time... kinda fun in a room where the tables aren't bolted down. I had a support pole to grab. The people across from me weren't that lucky. Everyone ended up on the starboard side of the room with tables on top of them :)
I didn't even spill my coffee.
