This here is one of the biggest gothic cathedrals in Europe. It quite literally dominates most views of the city. We got a great postcard with a picture of the roof in flames in the 80's.
I should probably explain the header... While in York we hit the worst weather of the whole trip. It was freezing, raining, sleeting and at times even snowing. We spent hours longer than was needed inside the Minster just to keep warm and dry!
