Here's the view from our window in the Grand Plaza Hotel. We were still pretty whacked out cuz of jet-lag when we took this... There were big hunking planes flying by, right behind that church steeple. We waited for a big-un before taking the picture. Guess it was farther away than we thought :) Our room here was pretty much what we expected it to be: Small. No problemo, it just reinforced the fact that we had finally gotten back to London! It was in the heart of the Bayswater District (pronounced "Tourist Area"), so there was plenty to see and do and eat right down the street. There were only 2 real problems we had with the room, both bathroom related. First the shower door wasn't secured to the track, and nearly crashed onto Kel. The second was the 2 inch "bulkhead" you had to step over to get into the bathroom. Not good if you are jet-laggy-tired and it's dark. I thought I'd broken 3 toes! After unpacking, Kel and I popped down to a pub (the Rat & Parrot) to write postcards and get a bite to eat. Did some ticky-tacky shopping then back to the hotel by about 6:30pm. The plan was to get up fairly early the next day and then take the train out to Ipswich, where we would be staying with a friend of ours, Matt Staples, for a week. Called Matt to confirm we'd arrived (left a message on his voice-mail), then struggled to stay awake until about 9:00pm. It worked. The next day we were pretty much acclimated to the time zone.
