We took a day trip via coach to Inverness on our 2nd day in Edinburgh courtesy of Prestige Tours. We had to be at the tour office at the ungodly hour of 8:00am which meant we had to leave the Town House at about 7:00 to allow enough time to walk there. The walk went faster than the night before oddly enough so we ended up having to stand around for 30 minutes until the bus..er coach showed up. There were 13 of us in the tour, some Californians, a South African couple and a guy from the Czech Republic. Our driver/guide was great! He had all sorts of fun stories both historical and current. He took us the scenic route up, driving along the Caledonian Canal System, with stops at a tourista road stop (we had tea and a pee), Fort William for lunch, and some shopping, a 30 minuter at the ruins of Castle Urquhart, then a longer stop in Inverness proper. Finally found a bottle of "Pride of Orkney" Whiskey for Pat in Inverness. We headed back from there taking a more direct route, with a short potty break, and pulled back into Edinburgh at about 8:00pm. It was a super fun day yet tiring. The coach was comfortable and we saw pretty much all we'd wanted too except for the Loch Ness Monster. We highly recommend Prestige Tours.
