Ahhhh the UK where the word "Close" has 12 different meanings... Here's an example of the type of close that means "enclosed area next to a church or cathedral". We'll see a different type when we get to Edinburgh. Here in Salisbury, the close is a big grassy area surrounded by the various residences of folks associated with the cathedral. It's gated and the entrance is very narrow and hazardous to pedestrians :)
