Check in was a breeze as we'd done 95% of it online. Just had to turn in our bags at the DIY counter. Took 10 minutes or so. We spent the next 45 minutes or so at the Burger Joint outside of security, for lunch. After passing through security (about 10 minutes, not bad.. had LOTS of liquids with us too). We were still about an hour early for boarding, so hit a bar for really expensive alcohol. Headed down to the gate at the appointed time. It was very crowded and hot and they'd not started letting the gimps and kids on yet. Stood around, then finally, 45 minutes later they opened one of the 2 jetways and started the pre-boarding. Turns out only one jetway was working. Took about an hour to get us all on-board.

That's our plane BTW. A nice new-ish 747-400, absolutely packed to the gills with tourists. There's gotta be a better way. New-ish means they had the movies and music on-demand when it worked. Much better then the old-style where you wait for movies to start and can't pause them. This was my first really long flight since I quit smoking and while I was not climbing the walls for a smoke, the 10 hour flight was still one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have. I'm not that big, 6 ft, and my knees were pressed up against the chair in front of me and trying to use a knife and fork without elbowing my seat-mates was impossible. PLEASE INVENT TRANSPORTERS SOON.

Oh one other thing.. ordering the kosher meal used to be a great idea. They used to be much better than the standard food. Not this time. Way sucked. Once we got DSL in London we canceled our kosher meals for the return trip.

Watched 2 movies on the way over: V For Vendetta (awesome) and King Kong (2nd time). Listened to American Idiot by Green Day and Corinne Baily Rae's self-titled album.
