On Day 6 of the trip we awoke very early. The 'hotel' we were staying at was not quite what we'd expected and sleeping arrangments weren't all that comfortable (more on that later). We had to be at another nearby hotel to be picked up for our Tokyo Morning Tour at 7:40am, and we wanted breakfast first. The 'hotel' had locked doors until 7:00am unless you made arrangments the night before. We told the guy at the front desk we needed to be out the door by 6:00 and he said no problem. Welp after hanging out in the 'lobby' for 15 minutes waiting for somebody to show up to let us out, we said screw it and left by an emergency exit (not alarmed thank goodness). Had a very interesting breakfast at Denny's (yes Denny's... but you wouldn't know it by the menu :-) ).
We arrived about 20 minutes early for our pick-up at the Crowne Plaza Metropolitan Hotel, next to the Ikebukro JR Station. If we hadn't had to catch a ride within 20 minutes we would have booked rooms there, even if it cost us $200 a night. We were that disappointed with where we were staying :-) The bus picked us up on time and took us to the Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal where our tour was to begin.
The Tokyo Morning Tour takes you to the Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace Plaza, a drive through the Akihabara and Ueno areas, the Asakusa Kannon Temple, a drive through the Ginza district, then finally a demonstration of pearl processing at the Tasaki Pearl Gallery. Our guide was OK. Her accent was a bit thick and she spoke very fast, but we got the gist of most stuff. It started out fine with a stop at the Tokyo Tower (pictured above).
