The alternate name for Akihabara is Electric Town. It is all electronics stores. You can find all the bleeding edge Japanese electronic hardware here. To us it was one giant candy store. One very interesting thing, unless you think about it: Just about everywhere we went in Tokyo, the ratio of men to women was about 1:5. Not in the Akihabara area. Here it was the exact opposite :)

Not sure if they do this everyday, but on the Sunday we were there, the main street was closed to vehicle traffic. Ever seen a 7 lane High Street?
