You may find some of my opinions strange concerning the Magic Kingdom, unless
you've explored the rest of my website before coming here. I grew up and
live now in California and have been to Disneyland in Anaheim many many
times. I love the place. I visited WDW's Magic Kingdom for the first itme
when I was 18, and was NOT impressed. At the time it seemd a very plastic
replica of my beloved Disneyland, and I completely ignored it's strengths.
This is my 5th trip to WDW (though I skipped MK altogether on one occasion),
and my opinion of the park has mellowed a bit. I now appreciate the wider
walkways, love Alien Encounter and the overall look of Tomorrowland, and
quite like the lighting effects they apply to the Castle at night. Another
thing that has colored my opinion of MK is that up until this trip it has
always poured rain during my entire visit. I'd never seen the place in the
sunshine! It's quite pretty. Ultimately, of all the parks at WDW, it is
the one I could have easily skipped if I'd had to. So what's the point of
what I'm saying here? Oh yeah... anytime I make a comment about a ride or
theming or whatever, remember I'm comparing it to Disneyland and not to some
cheesy 6 Flags park.
