Museum Guide On day 5 of our Tokyo Trip we checked out of the Tokyo Bay Hilton and took the train to Tokyo Station. Our next hotel was in the Ikebukuro section of Tokyo, about a 30 minute JR line trip, but we had a tour to meet at 12:30 at the Hamamatsucho station, which was about 10 minutes from Tokyo Station and 40 minutes from Ikebukuro... Time was tight. We opted to put our luggage in a locker, take the tour, then go and check into the hotel. This worked out fine.

Our tour was very personal. Just the four of us and a tour guide. She brought us to the Mitaka City section of Tokyo, to the Ghibli Museum. Ever heard of it? Ever seen a Miyazaki film? If you answered yes to either of these questions I'll have no problem describing the museum. It's a place dedicated to the animation of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, the creative heads of Studio Ghibli.

If you answered no to those questions, well you need to rent some movies. Hayao Miyazaki is Japan's Walt Disney, except he's done more actual animation hands-on, and he's still alive and working (rumors of his retirment are notorious). His work is to Anime what Disney features are to cartoons. Go to Netflix NOW and add the following to your queue: Castle In The Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Then go to your favorite Video rental store and try and find My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa, and Porco Rosso (aka The Crimson Pig). You will not be disappointed.
